Baikalox aluminum oxide powders are ultra-pure polishing alumina manufactured via the calcination of high purity alum. Baikalox alumina powders are available in two forms: agglomerate free and standard.

Type CR agglomerate free alumina are the premium polishing powders. They are calcined from higher purity alum to a purity of 99.9%. The powders are then "deagglomerated" in a proprietary process which breaks down the large agglomerates which would otherwise cause scratches. Precise quality control over each lot of powder is maintained by continually monitoring with a laser particle size analyzer. The type CR powders have found extensive use where minute scratched cannot be tolerated.
